Family Businesses: Drivers of Internationalization Acceleration
(Associação das Empresas Familiares)

Family businesses play a fundamental role in the economy. They represent a large share of the country’s private organizations, generate millions of jobs, and have a strong impact on regional development. Traditionally associated with local or national businesses, many of these companies have, in recent years, sought international expansion as a strategy for growth, competitiveness, and business continuity.
The internationalization movement of family businesses is directly linked to transformations in the global economy. Market liberalization, technological advances, the growth of digital commerce, and the need for economic diversification have led many organizations to see opportunities beyond national borders.

The Future of the Mercosur Agreement and New Opportunities for Brazil

Mercosur is experiencing a decisive moment within the new configuration of the global economy. In a scenario marked by geopolitical transformations, trade tensions among major powers, climate change, digitalization, and the reorganization of global production chains, Brazil is assuming an increasingly relevant strategic position. The country has unique characteristics, such as an abundance of natural resources, strong agricultural capacity, a large consumer market, and one of the cleanest energy matrices in the world — factors that enhance its importance in international negotiations.

In this context, the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union emerges as a historic opportunity to expand Brazil’s integration into the global economy. The treaty aims to reduce trade tariffs, facilitate investments, integrate production chains, and promote greater economic cooperation between the blocs.
